I posted the wrong date for Dave’s surgery, it actually will be March 7… Kenny asked me to go with him to the high school today to talk to Josh’s counselor. Kathy had to work and wasn’t able to go. I went with him and it looks like Josh will be attending Vo Tech after he graduates. I think he will take Graphic Design… This evening Dave went with Kenny to Home Depot. They are going to build shelves in Kenny’s garage. That will be good for Dave… I am going to take some time off from doing my journal. I feel I am needing another break… I will be back… Goodnight All… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma
Mary's Place
A web page about the life of a lady who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
About Me
- Name: Mary Lockhart
- Location: Piedmont, Oklahoma, United States
I live in Piedmont, OK, with my Husband of 50 years who has been very supportive. We have 2 sons,David and Kenny, 6 grandkids, and 6 great grandkids. I enjoy feeding and watching the birds and squirrels. Before I was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, I ran a Licensed Day Care Home for Infants for 15 years. I noticed I wasn't able to remember important things and having problems with my speech. I was experiencing severe headaches. I would get lost. I didn't know how to use the computer. At the age of 55, I told my doctor. I was sent for an MRI. which showed a large amount of shrinkage. I went to a neurologist who sent me for two days of testing. I was diagnosed with dementia of the Alzheimer's type. My husband and I were both in shock. I had to give up my job. I went to see a social worker. I've taken Aricept for 11 years. I can now use the computer and even do this web page. I also host a chat room for dementia patients. This is a very lonely disease. I don't want anyone to feel as lonely as I did when I was diagnosed (I thought I was the only one over 50 that had Alzheimer's). In 2006 I started taking Namenda. Also I was told I have a mixed dementia, Alzheimer's/Vascular.

Dave went to see the urologist this morning to get the results of his CT scan and ultrasound. Well the news wasn’t good. He told him that he is almost sure that he has testicular cancer. He is scheduled for surgery on the 29th of February to remove the testicle. He would have done it this Friday but since Dave is taking an aspirin a day he had to wait till he was off of aspirin for ten days. So here we go again… I did laundry and took care of house plants. We are having leftovers for supper… Goodnight All… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

Yesterday our internet was down… I got a good report on my mammogram. Everythng is fine. Thank you God… We left the breast center and went shopping for jewelry again. Still can’t make a decision though… Then we went to David and Lori’s. They got a new television and it is a really nice one. We are always happy when our kids get something new and want to share it with us. Jenni, Madison, and Macey were there so I got my grandkid fix… Lori fixed a delicious meal for us… It was late when we got home and I couldn’t wait to get in bed. I was so tired. It had been a stressful day… I received a sweet e-mail from our granddaughter Erin today. The baby had woke her up in the middle of the night kicking. So while she was awake she wrote to me. Erin is having to go in everyday for a stress test. She and baby Kooper Allen are in my daily prayers…
It was in the 60’s and the sun was shining so I thought I would get outside with the dogs. Sammy and Teddy saw me outside and came running down here. The wind was cold. So I only stayed out for about an hour. Josh had the day off and he was riding the four wheeler… Goodnight All… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

It was four years ago today that I lost my Mother. I miss my Mom so much… I folded the launry that was left in the dryer from the last time I did laundry, whenever that was? Kenny called and asked us to go to town with him just to get us out of the house. I told Dave to go and I would stay home. I thought I would give them some time together and I still had to ride my bike and I wanted to chat with my friends… I watched the movie “Forget Me Never" again. Each time I watch that movie I see things that I don’t remember seeing before… Well finally the weekend is over and tomorrow I will find out more about the mammogram and ultra sound. I am postive that everything will be okay… Kenny, I wanted to let you know that the roses in the flower arrangement smell so good… Goodnight All… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

Today while having lunch I was watching the birds at the feeder. They really entertain me… This afternoon I had an appointment to get a mammagram. We went straight there and back home again. We were going to go out to eat for Valentine’s Day but didn’t want to take a chance on running into someone with the flu. It is really bad here, so many are sick… I received a valentine card today from David and Lori. I love receiving valentines because it makes me feel loved… I called Lynne in Iowa Park and was happy to hear she was home from the hospital. I also called Leslie, a friend in Jonesboro, Georgia. I had an appointment today with Dr. Barreto. She is real thorough and keeps track of everything going on with me. She scheduled me for a mammogram, fasting lab work, and a bone scan. I really like a doctor like that. She was pleased with how well I am doing… While we were out we made a trip to TLC, our favorite nursery. We bought seed potatoes, onion sets and cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, and cosmos seeds… It was another beautiful day but they are saying we may get snow tomorrow.
