Thanks to Janey in Plainfield, Illinois for visiting Mary’s Place and signing my guest book at http://www.angelfire.com/ok4/mari5113/index.html …
We had just a good time with the grandbabies last night. Madison was ready for a snack when she got here. She had slept all the way here. So I gave her some watermelon and cantaloupe and she loved that. Macey was hanging on to her Grandpa 3 it took her awhile to warm up to me… Madison helped me with our menu for dinner she saw some frozen corn on the cob in the freezer and said she wanted it. She also wanted macaroni and cheese and sliced tomatoes. I added chicken fried steak with gravy, hot crusty bread, and a chocolate silk pie. Madison and Macey both ate really well. Madison going after the corn on cob and Macey loved the steak… Lori was a big help in helping me fixed dinner. I would have never made it without her. She and David also helped me clean up the kitchen. Madison washed off the table for me… Later we all went up to the garden so Madison could pick her own tomatoes, cantaloupe, and watermelon to take home with her. She also carried the left over corn on the cob home with her in a doggy bag… We got an inch of rain last night. We will take all we can get… This morning I slept till 11:30 that was twelve hours of sleep. I must have been tired… I have loafed most of the day not being worth much at all… There were four hummingbirds at the feeders trying to tell me them needed to be filled. One even pecked on the window at me. So I got busy and made more nectar for them… I had phone calls from Lori, and Nancy and I called Martha. Tomorrow we are going to get together and finish off the fish we caught while we were camping in May… Goodnight All… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma
Mary's Place
A web page about the life of a lady who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
About Me
- Name: Mary Lockhart
- Location: Piedmont, Oklahoma, United States
I live in Piedmont, OK, with my Husband of 50 years who has been very supportive. We have 2 sons,David and Kenny, 6 grandkids, and 6 great grandkids. I enjoy feeding and watching the birds and squirrels. Before I was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, I ran a Licensed Day Care Home for Infants for 15 years. I noticed I wasn't able to remember important things and having problems with my speech. I was experiencing severe headaches. I would get lost. I didn't know how to use the computer. At the age of 55, I told my doctor. I was sent for an MRI. which showed a large amount of shrinkage. I went to a neurologist who sent me for two days of testing. I was diagnosed with dementia of the Alzheimer's type. My husband and I were both in shock. I had to give up my job. I went to see a social worker. I've taken Aricept for 11 years. I can now use the computer and even do this web page. I also host a chat room for dementia patients. This is a very lonely disease. I don't want anyone to feel as lonely as I did when I was diagnosed (I thought I was the only one over 50 that had Alzheimer's). In 2006 I started taking Namenda. Also I was told I have a mixed dementia, Alzheimer's/Vascular.
